He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow, march out against them. You will find them coming up through the ascent of Ziz at the end of the valley that opens into the wilderness of Jeruel. But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!”2 Chronicles 20:15-17 (NLT)
Isn’t this beautiful? Jehoshaphat had been threatened by 3 other nations. Upon hearing the news, Jehoshaphat like every man likely would be was filled with fear. Rather than let the fear paralyse him though, he let it push him to the Lord. Jehoshaphat took the news to the Lord and tabled it there. He then also called upon his people to join in reaching out to the Lord for help which they did.
God answers and fam, it’s just beautiful. He says, don’t be afraid, don’t be discouraged, the battle is not yours. You won’t even need to fight. They are coming to fight you but you will be going there to watch me attain victory. It does not get better than that!
God shows up on the day of the battle and claims victory before the people of Judah even arrived. When they get there, the war is over. Their enemies had all been defeated and they did not have to so much as lift a feather to fight. The victory was theirs and they had enough spoil to enjoy. See flex… LOL
When the devil comes roaring out, when we get threatened and are afraid, let us use this as a template. We run to our Father with our fear that he may strengthen us and obtain victory on our behalf. We sit and relax and go out only to gather spoil and celebrate. The devil is already defeated and we are free!
